This project consisted of two forty-footer containers and a twenty-footer modified shipping container joined together to create a two-story hybrid Container Building Complex and featured a heavy duty staircase and overhead Colorbond Gable Roof.
The complex consisted of an open-plan restaurant and coffee station upstairs, and a bookshop and stationaries downstairs.
The building was built for Sakya Higher Education Institute, Nugegoda, Sri Lanka. Established in 1999, as a secondary educational institute catering to the young individuals wanting to contribute to the growth of the country, “Sakya” is perhaps the most common name that comes to the minds of both parents and students in search of assistance in studies.
Over the years Sakya institute has produced some of the top-scoring students in the Island in the Science, Mathematics, Commerce, and Art streams who not only have the subject knowledge but also are talented in applying it in real-life situations.
Sakya has grown over the years as a group of companies located in the Nugegoda area and aims to achieve more together with a skilled panel of lecturers led by highly qualified Bandara Dissanayake.
Mr. Dissanayake who has been the man behind the success of the institute is a lecturer in Economics and Business Studies. Starting off from 2004 he has produced students who obtained the Island’s best results, top scorers in Colombo and Gampaha districts in the Commerce stream.
