Tulip Super - Supermarket | Dikkowita Fisheries Harbour
Hybrid Buddy Supermarket – Container Based Retail Innovation at Dikkowita Fisheries Harbour
Hybrid Cargotecture Development introduced a new approach to retail infrastructure with the Hybrid Buddy Supermarket, a modern up-cycled container supermarket designed for Tulip Super at the Dikkowita Fisheries Harbour. Built using two twenty foot shipping containers, the project demonstrates how modular construction can create strong functional commercial spaces within demanding coastal environments.
Designed to support daily retail operations, the supermarket blends durability with clear visual presentation. The wide glass façade opens the space to natural light while allowing customers to view products from outside, creating a clean inviting storefront presence within a busy harbour setting.
Project Overview
The Hybrid Buddy Supermarket was created to provide a compact yet high capacity retail solution capable of handling heavy product loads. Hybrid Cargotecture engineered the structure with integrated heavy duty shelving systems that can support up to one ton per rack, allowing the display of rice, dry goods and essential daily items in an organised layout. The result is a supermarket environment that feels efficient structured and purpose built for continuous use.
