Small footprint. Big comfort.
Texas architect Jim Poteet transformed a single 40 ft steel container into a bright, multiuse retreat for an artist. The plan keeps one bay as a garden shed and converts the rest into a light filled living space with floor to ceiling glazing, bamboo lined interiors and a compact bath. A planted roof softens heat gain and turns a simple box into a cooled, living envelope.
For Sri Lankan homeowners, this is a perfect precedent for backyard studios, guest suites, home offices and boutique stays in Colombo, Galle, Kandy and Jaffna. It proves that one container can deliver a refined, climate responsive pavilion with very short build time.
